Plywood is a board that may resemble other cheaper boards in appearance; however, it is a premium, comparatively lightweight material with increased strength. The strength is achieved by gluing alternate layers of what is known as veneer, or flake, perpendicular to each other. Birch plywood is a relatively lightweight yet strong material. Another extremely important feature of plywood is that it has a very wide range of use due to its ease of processing. Depending on its thickness, resistance to moisture and quality of finish, birch plywood is used in a wide range of applications, from modelling and toy making to furniture production, flooring, interior finishing and construction.
